# Reading list

> The Big Sky Peptides reading list — The Big Sky Peptides reading list: DSIP experiments with light, altitude, rabbits, human sleep, blood degradation and engineered fusion peptides.

**Published studies and reviews**

The artificial-night papers take me furthest into the subject. The rabbit comparisons and the human measurements make the argument harder.

## Light and altitude

The [tree-shrew experiment with a simulated space rhythm](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2278004/) and the [phosphorylated-DSIP study at simulated altitude in rats](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30107169/) anchor my interest in experimental surroundings. A [rat seizure study comparing night and day](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8483798/) adds an especially uncomfortable example of time-dependent effects.

## Rabbits and human sleep

The [original rabbit characterisation](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/265572/) starts the DSIP history. I favour reading it alongside the [later rabbit structure–function comparison](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11525128/). For the human questions, the [small insomnia study](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7028502/) and the [sleep-onset plasma measurements](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8745061/) describe importantly different kinds of observation.

## Delivery and unresolved questions

The [blood-incubation experiment](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3628078/) gives the delivery discussion a physical starting point. The [engineered fusion-peptide study in mice](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39444618/) shows how far an altered molecule can take the subject. The [review of DSIP's unresolved biology](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16539679/) is a useful irritant when the individual results begin to sound like a complete explanation.

At Big Sky Peptides the published DSIP experiments take me through artificial nights; the essays here offer no medical advice.
