Published studies and reviews

Reading list

The artificial-night papers take me furthest into the subject. The rabbit comparisons and the human measurements make the argument harder.

Light and altitude

The tree-shrew experiment with a simulated space rhythm and the phosphorylated-DSIP study at simulated altitude in rats anchor my interest in experimental surroundings. A rat seizure study comparing night and day adds an especially uncomfortable example of time-dependent effects.

Rabbits and human sleep

The original rabbit characterisation starts the DSIP history. I favour reading it alongside the later rabbit structure–function comparison. For the human questions, the small insomnia study and the sleep-onset plasma measurements describe importantly different kinds of observation.

Delivery and unresolved questions

The blood-incubation experiment gives the delivery discussion a physical starting point. The engineered fusion-peptide study in mice shows how far an altered molecule can take the subject. The review of DSIP's unresolved biology is a useful irritant when the individual results begin to sound like a complete explanation.
